Validation of the single-impulse correction factor of the CHABA impulse-noise damage-risk criterion.
Seventy-six subjects were exposed to single impulse noises produced by two small shoulder-fired rockets, and TTS2 was compared with the U-MBA limits. The single impulse, 95% protection, and grazing incidence correction factors of the CHABA damage-risk criterion were validated. Grazing-incidence shock waves produced comparable results when they arrived at the ear from the front and from the rear.

The quality of the image is degraded in a significant me...
متن کاملAn Effective Detail Preserving Filter for Impulse Noise Removal
Impulsive noise appears as a sprinkle of dark and bright spots. Linear filters fail to suppress impulsive noise. Thus, non-linear filters have been proposed. The median filter works on all image pixels and thus destroys fine details. Alternatively, the peak-and-valley filter identifies noisy pixels and then replaces their values with the minimum or maximum value of their neighbors depending on ...
متن کاملAn adaptive dynamically weighted median filter for impulse noise removal
A new impulsive noise removal filter, adaptive dynamically weighted median filter (ADWMF), is proposed. A popular method for removing impulsive noise is a median filter whereas the weighted median filter and center weighted median filter were also investigated. ADWMF is based on weighted median filter. In ADWMF, instead of fixed weights, weightages of the filter are dynamically assigned with th...
متن کاملAn Improved Adaptive Median Filtering Method for Impulse Noise Detection
An Impulse noise detection & removal with adaptive filtering approach is proposed to restore images corrupted by salt & pepper noise. The proposed algorithm works well for suppressing impulse noise with noise density from 5 to 60% while preserving image details. The difference of current central pixel with median of local neighborhood pixels is used to classify the central pixel as noisy or noi...
